Third Flake [video]

[One day, Elsa will make a post to the network that doesn't involve questioning everyone. Today? not really one of those days.]

I'm sorry I've asked so many questions every time I post messages here. After being here for over a month, one would think that I knew enough to not need to ask so many questions. But this is just... something I haven't seen before. So I have to ask.

[The camera shifts from Elsa's face down to her lap. Wriggling happily upon it, nose pushing against her palm as it snuffles curiously, is a Dratini. But there's something a little.... odd about it.]

Do pokemon come in different colors? From what I've been able to tell with others of the species I've seen, it hasn't been the case, but this little one hatched today, and she's.... different, from the pictures I've seen of this species. Is this normal?

Actually they get a little... goofy-looking.
loveisanopendoor: (Aww)

[personal profile] loveisanopendoor 2014-10-12 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe some kind of a nice big pond inside, so they can swim indoors without too much of an issue...

[Now it's Anna's turn to let out a bit of a laugh as Elsa makes her counterpoint, scratching behind her head as she does...there's no point in arguing against that; she's guilty as charged and she knows it.]

...Well, you've got me there. But he did turn out awfully cute because of it! I actually don't think I spoiled him enough!
paopuprincess: (Eh)

[personal profile] paopuprincess 2014-10-12 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Kinda... pudgy.
dreamsofahero: (generic back of head shot)

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2014-10-13 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Have you?

*his brows raise a bit at that; he doesn't know anything about Elsa's background, but there were certainly some similar sort of things in his own world*

As far as I know, there's nothing particularly different about the pokemon beyond the unusual coloring, though it wouldn't surprise me if people somehow believed they were "better" somehow simply because of how rare it is.
infinityunlimitedflame: (BUT THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FORM)

[personal profile] infinityunlimitedflame 2014-10-13 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
A wise belief. While rare coloration is something that should be treasured, ones who do not possess it should be treated no less fairly.

[In other words, and way less of them, he agrees.]

It is good to know that a creature such as this is in good hands, but tell me, from where did you acquire its egg?

[Because he wants one.

Because they're kind of cute.]
loveisanopendoor: (Precious)

[personal profile] loveisanopendoor 2014-10-13 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
But that's half the fun of us teasing each other, isn't it? I love it when we go back and forth with that sort of thing...

[That Dratini is just way too cute...]

We could always make it into a pool that has a wooden cover over it for when we need it for banquets!
red_roses: (How cute!//BUNNIESSSS)

[personal profile] red_roses 2014-10-13 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, but that's what a Pokemon colored differently is called. At least, that's what Nurse Joy told me. Um, I think they also sparkle when you send them out of their Poke-balls!
in_praetego: ([;;;] Gonna start it over)

[personal profile] in_praetego 2014-10-13 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's... pretty new to me, too. But I figured it's the best way of getting information, given the circumstances we're in.

[ There's a small laugh there. ]

You're not the only one who only messages the network when they've got questions.
peach_boy: (I have decided!)

[personal profile] peach_boy 2014-10-13 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Woah! Your Pokémon has a different color?! That's so cool!
heartdive: (( fa ) ❣ cbnit)

[personal profile] heartdive 2014-10-13 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't they all sort of cute, though?

[ Sora at least thinks so. ]

Got a name for her yet?
berkthorn: (so call me maybe)

[personal profile] berkthorn 2014-10-13 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, looks like you've got what I like to call a LuckDratini!

[Once upon a time, Hiccup had become very enthralled by The Neverending Story by Michael EnDewott.]

I hatched one once, too, and she's grown up just fine. I wouldn't worry about her.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-10-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it does --- in captivity, it only has to do with sensitivity to sunlight and eyesight problems, but in the wild it can make animals an easier target for predators.

But really, with Pokemon, neither of those are an issue. I have several "shiny" Pokemon of my own, and outside of having odd coloring, there's really nothing to set them apart from others of their species.
faintwaves: ([Curious] You said...?)

[personal profile] faintwaves 2014-10-14 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[And then a girl that looks identical to Kairi except the hair color pokes her head in.]

And they turn green, that's not as cute as the pink.
wing_attack: (neutral)

[personal profile] wing_attack 2014-10-14 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
... I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Other people would know more than me, but as long as it seems healthy and the nurses at the Pokemon Center aren't worried, I don't think you should be, either.
friendyousohard: (My hair static requires further study)

[personal profile] friendyousohard 2014-10-15 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh they all enjoy it when they get praised, but if you'd seen Megasoma you'd know for a fact who the resident attention-seeker in my party is.

[Robo folds his arms and nods sagely.]

He once insisted on taking on a gym leader on his own and having me record it for the network, just so he could get the adulations of the regions.
islandshore: (determined)

[personal profile] islandshore 2014-10-15 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I'd call it normal, but there aren't really any drawbacks to it. If anything, shiny Pokémon are sought after because they're so rare.

[He's probably seen a shiny Dratini in passing, but the color difference is fascinating. Riku's not much of a pink guy, but even so, he's eying the camera intently.]

I think the worst thing you might have to deal with are self-esteem issues. That's what happened to my shiny Charizard, and I'd say it's all on an individual basis.
wing_attack: (uhh...)

[personal profile] wing_attack 2014-10-20 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
They do tend to grow on you.

[Aaand suddenly Regal the Rufflet pokes his head into the shot.]

... That wasn't an invitation, Regal.

[He just pets the bird's head gently.]
islandshore: (Default)

[personal profile] islandshore 2014-10-21 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Good. Do that, and I'm sure she'll be just fine.

[Still, there's something about her tone that's a bit personal here. Though, maybe it's in his head.]

It'd probably help if your roster's well-behaved. Part of my problem was that I've got a few Pokémon who tend to go out of their way to stir trouble.
