Sixth Flake [video]

[Elsa looks a lot more subdued than usual - especially compared to her last video - when she begins recording, staring out the window of the little apartment she and Anna had begun renting for their stay in Goldenrod. It's snowing, this time with no help from her, and she's just watching the flakes drift lazily past.]

I know this may sound like an odd question, but... how do you go about celebrating things you haven't really acknowledged in a very long time? Birthdays, holidays, things like that... It feels strange to just go ahead and do it and act like the lack of celebrations in years past never happened. Wrong, almost, to completely dismiss such a long amount of time like that.

It seems rather difficult to make a special event even more special. Does that make sense at all?

[She's not even thinking about her own upcoming birthday (on the 21st!) at all. But Christmas is coming up... the first Christmas in thirteen years that the sisters will be spending together. She wants Anna's first real Christmas since she was five to be perfect, or at least as perfect as Elsa can make it. She just... has no idea how to do that.]

[... Oh right. Her birthday. Having stopped celebrating it shortly after the beginning of her isolation, Elsa doesn't.... really think too much about her birthday.]

My birthday doesn't matter right now. [SEE?] My birthday isn't on Christmas, so I can still do something for you for the holidays. Something special.

Well, if it means that much to you...why don't we plan something together, then? I want to make it special for you, too, Elsa.

I wanted it to be a surprise, though...

[That sounds like something right up Anna's alley, really. And clearly this is something that's been on Elsa's mind a lot, so...]

Well, maybe I can do the Eve and you could do the Day? That way we could surprise each other! Oh, oh! Or you could go crazy with a Christmas surprise and I could go crazy with a birthday surprise! I mean, they're so close, after all!

... Oh, right.... I completely forgot my birthday was coming up.

[Said like it's no big thing to FORGET YOUR OWN BIRTHDAY.]

I... suppose that would work. I don't mind not celebrating it, but if you really want to do something...

Not celebrating it?! Elsa, are you crazy?!

[SORRY SHE JUST DOESN'T SEE THE BIG IDEA...]

My birthday hasn't been a big event for me in a long time, and I'm okay with that. It's different from Christmas, which I still wanted to celebrate.

But it's your birthday, Elsa..! It's like Christmas! I mean, it only comes once a year...and I mean, maybe that's just because you haven't really had the chance to make it special! I'm sure if we do something for it this year, you'll come around!

A birthday that's only a few days away from Christmas. We can still celebrate and have fun on Christmas, so it's not that big of a deal, really!

So why can't we celebrate on your birthday, too? Just because they're close doesn't mean that one's not as important as the other! It's still a special day!

Because it doesn't feel special anymore. That's why.

But I want to! And you of all people should know what happens when I want something!

[Elsa lets out a rather defeated sigh and shakes her head, a small smile tugging at her mouth.]

That it's completely useless to fight against you, because you're too stubborn for your own good.

That may be, but things always work out for us in the end, don't they?

... Yeah, they do. I just hope that good luck never runs out.
