Eighth Flake [Fourth Wall][Video/Action for Olivine CIty]

[It's snowing in Olivine City! Or, well. In an area of the beach a bit away from the city, that is. DETAILS. While not an odd sight if you're training a pokemon, the snow isn't coming from a pokemon; it's coming from the fair-haired young lady standing in the midst of the snowfall, arms sweeping back and forth as the flurries blow this way and that.

Most of her pokemon look on passively, having seen this display once before, months ago. But still they play! The ones who weren't around for the last show of Elsa's power are jumping about much more eagerly, rolling about in the drifts or happily snapping or swatting at the falling flakes.

Elsa herself, on the other hand, simply laughs and watches, flicking bits of snow at her companions every so often. She doesn't even seem to mind that Frigga grabbed her gear and is filming all of this right now.]

Perfect timing, isn't it? With how warm it's been, I'm glad I could help all of you cool off for a bit!

Wow, Elsa that's incredible! [Look at how wide his eyes are; he is so impressed.] Hey, I should have told you--the egg you gave me hatched! [He pans the camera so Elsa can see Carlos' Amaura, who peers curiously at the screen.] I kept with the scientist theme and named her Curie, after a really amazing female scientist! She's really well-behaved too, although sometimes she can be a little shy.

T-Thank you! [OH MAN SUCH ENTHUSIASM just give her a second to push back the embarrassment. Thankfully, pokemon talk definitely helps.] Shy, hm? Funny, it sounds like she's already a bit different from her mother.

[There's a deep huff off-screen, and Elsa just laughs.] Oh, don't worry Skadi. That's not a bad thing at all.

[He smiles.] You're welcome. It's not every day you see such cool powers. I'm kind of jealous...but I suppose it's easier to study powers from the outside.

Don't worry. I'm sure she'll grow out of it with a little training. Right now, she's so young and she's just getting used to me and my other Pokemon. [Speaking of, Curie didn't miss the sound of her mother, even if it's a just a huff, and ventures over, making a curious little noise, and tilting her head at the screen.]

[Jealous... h-hahaha, Carlos, if you only knew the full story, you probably wouldn't be...]

Well, if you ever want to know more, I wouldn't mind if you asked.

[Elsa notices the way Curie approaches, so she takes the gear from Frigga and moves over towards where Skadi is laying in a pile of snow. The sound the Aurorus makes is softer, leaning over her trainer to get a look at the gear.]

That's how a few of mine were, initially. Some of them grew into tough little spitfires.

Really? I'd love that! But uh, you're sure you wouldn't mind? I know some people don't like talking about their powers much.

[He grins.] Oh yeah? Well, guess I'll have to keep my eye on her, then! I'm sure she's going to turn out just fine though. [Curie gives a little bounce of excitement at the sight of Skadi. She's certainly got plenty of energy, even if she is shy.]

Of course not. I admit, nobody's ever really studied my magic before, since my people are still fairly new to the idea that I have it in the first place... but if it's to help someone, I could give it a try.

[And Carlos is a nice guy. She can't really see him doing anything bad when running these studies.]

With a trainer like you, I'm sure she will be. [Skadi gives a rumble of agreement. She can definitely trust this human with her baby!]

I'd be the first? Wow, I'm honored! So, then, powers like yours aren't commonplace in your world?

Aww, geez, thanks. I still have a lot to learn about being trainer, but I hope I'll be good for her.

[defyingfrigidity]

[She shakes her head.]

They aren't, no. There are legend and old stories that talk of magic, of course, and unfounded rumors throughout many kingdoms. But as far as I'm aware of, no other human has magic like mine.

[imperfectscientist]

Wow. That's...incredible, but it must not have felt that way. I imagine growing up was difficult, then, especially understanding your abilities if you had no one to teach you.

[defyingfrigidity]

[Aha... oh boy. Elsa smile fades quite a bit at that.]

It was... very lonely. I spent most of my life believing my magic was a curse, because of how little everyone else around me knew.

[And for... other reasons, but even after the dream mess, she's still a little wary about telling more people about that incident from her childhood.]

Oh, geez, I'm sorry. I. That's terrible. I hope you've been able to see how amazing your powers are now.

[defyingfrigidity]

It... took some time to come around to that way of thinking. I can't say I don't have my bad days, but, for the most part... I don't think of the abilities I was born with a curse at least.

[A burden? A cause of strife more often than not? Yes. But... not a curse anymore.]

Truthfully, I have Anna to thank for that.

That's good to hear. I think that might be a fairly common thing in worlds where those with abilities are forced to hide them, and I can't say I blame you for ever feeling that way, but I'm glad you can see things differently now.

Anna? [Though he's met Elsa, he hasn't had the pleasure of meeting her sister yet.]

[defyingfrigidity]

My sister. [Elsa smile softens as she speaks.] She was the one person who only ever saw my power as a good thing. When I... accidentally revealed it to our kingdom, she never once assumed what I could do was dangerous, and did her very best to reassure our people that I wasn't some monster trying to hurt everyone.

[imperfectscientist]

That's amazing. I'm sure your sister must really care about you. But then, that's what siblings are supposed to do. I'm glad she was there for you.

[defyingfrigidity]

Me too. I honestly don't know where I'd be without her.

[Still cooped up in her room. All alone and brooding in her ice castle on the North Mountain. Dead, even. Oh, Elsa definitely knows where she'd be without Anna. She just doesn't like thinking about it.]

Do you have any siblings, Carlos?

[imperfectscientist]

I'm an only child, I'm afraid. I probably wouldn't have made a good sibling anyway. I was way too into science to really pay attention to anything or anyone else.

[defyingfrigidity]

Oh, don't say that! Even if you had a sibling whose interests were the exact opposite of yours, you could still be good to them. Anna and I liked some of the same things, but we also liked many different things as well, and we got along very well.

[... For the first five years of Anna's life, at least. But now they're getting along very well, so that's something!]

[imperfectscientist]

You're too kind. Really, you have no idea how consumed I can get in my research. It might have helped to have a sibling growing up, actually. Then, maybe I would have had my act together by now.

[defyingfrigidity]

Oh, believe me. Siblings are very good at pulling you out of your own head when things start piling up on you. No matter how stubborn you may be about that.

Oh? Is that said from experience?

[Elsa laughs, but it's... somewhat halfhearted.]

Yes, it is... Anna's very good at pulling me out of my head when I can't realize I'm not in a very good place.

[His answering smile is soft and earnest.] I'm glad to hear that. You always need someone to pull you out, even when you don't know you need it.

Boy, don't I know that.

I think I've made people mad because of that before. I worry so much about everyone and everything around me that I don't realize I haven't been taking care of myself as much as them. Anna - and all my new friends here - don't really let me do that anymore.
