[It's snowing in Olivine City! Or, well. In an area of the beach a bit away from the city, that is. DETAILS. While not an odd sight if you're training a pokemon, the snow isn't coming from a pokemon; it's coming from the fair-haired young lady standing in the midst of the snowfall, arms sweeping back and forth as the flurries blow this way and that.

Most of her pokemon look on passively, having seen this display once before, months ago. But still they play! The ones who weren't around for the last show of Elsa's power are jumping about much more eagerly, rolling about in the drifts or happily snapping or swatting at the falling flakes.

Elsa herself, on the other hand, simply laughs and watches, flicking bits of snow at her companions every so often. She doesn't even seem to mind that Frigga grabbed her gear and is filming all of this right now.]

Perfect timing, isn't it? With how warm it's been, I'm glad I could help all of you cool off for a bit!

The... Princesses?

Princesses Celestia and Luna. They control the movements of the sun and the moon, respectively, back in Equestria, and other than from them I've rarely seen the ability to affect the natural world magically to such a great extent. I'll admit I hadn't expected you to have this much power...

Ah, but you don't recognize me, do you? It's Twilight.

Oh, hello Twilight! I'm sorry I didn't recognize you.

[Yes, once she gets over the shock, Elsa can definitely recognize that voice.]

As for my abilities... there's no way I'm anywhere near as powerful as these Princesses. Something like that, being able to move the heavens themselves... feats such as those are done only by gods, where I come from.

You needn't apologize. I've changed species, it's only natural you'd be a little confused.

[Or rather, she's reverted to her usual species, but whatever.]

Perhaps, but you are altering the very seasonal state of the area around you, and on a large scale at that. The Princesses may have been a stretch, but even the most powerful unicorns struggle with that level of magic. I should know.

[After all of Twilight's talk, and just the fact that she's a talking unicorn, Elsa kind of assumed she had some pretty good first-hand experience with magic. But she never really went too deep into it, did she...?]

Well, not to brag or anything, but I happen to be particularly magically talented, even by the standards of unicorns. I don't remember if I ever told you this or not, but Princess Celestia actually made me her personal pupil.

... Looking back on it, she probably did that to make sure I didn't accidentally cause too much trouble.

[Giant rampaging dragons would not be good for anyone.]

Regardless, only a few of my spells can rival what you're doing, and most of them tire me out quite a bit to use. Though, that might be because you're a lot more specialized than I am.

[Elsa would be lying if she said she wasn't a tad bit jealous right now...]

If you don't mind.... could I perhaps see what you could do? Even during the days when this happened a few months ago, I didn't see much in the way of the abilities of others.

Oh, certainly! Hmmm... let's see, what's a good one to start with...

[After a bit of consideration, Twilight brightens as an idea hits her, and her horn glows brightly for a moment before she vanishes from sight.

Only to pop up right at Elsa's side.]

[Elsa takes a step back in surprise, but the shock is quickly replaced with an amused laugh.]

Teleportation? Now that's something I've never heard much about in stories!

Stories in general, or stories about my kind in particular?

[She knows humans have stories about unicorns, and sometimes she finds it interesting to check and see how accurate they are. This is one of those times.]

In general. Your kind... from most of the stories I've heard, the fact that your kind is made of magic is a story in and of itself. Though I do remember tales from lands far south of mine, where a winged horse was once the partner of a great hero.

[... And was born from the blood of a decapitated monster woman, but let's not get into that now....]

That would be a pegasus. We're relatives, and sometimes pegasi can be born from unicorns or vice-versa, but we differ in many ways. Of course, an Alicorn combines the traits of both and those of earth ponies, but unless you encounter one of the Princesses you won't meet one of them.

Which is a pity. I think you and Princess Celestia would get along quite swimmingly. Probably Princess Luna too, and I don't think anyone could dislike Cadence.

[Huh. This is all quite fascinating, really. Elsa holds herself back from asking more, though... she's not sure how to ask "tell me more about your magical species!" without coming off as... very awkward. Or kind of uncomfortable. So she focuses on the other things Twilight says for now.]

Oh? What makes you think I'd get along with them?

Primarily the fact that I can't think of any reason you wouldn't. Besides, if nothing else, you have two important things in common with all of them, as a ruler and as a sister.

I suppose those are things one could easily bond with others over...

[Elsa laughs a little nervously, rubbing at her neck.] Though, to be honest, I haven't had much experience talking to other royals. I was only queen for a few months before I was brought here.

Well, it might be a good place to start, particularly as you wouldn't really have any negotiations riding on it... I'm surprised your parents didn't ensure you had some practice at the art of diplomacy, though. Surely they must have realized you'd eventually need it.

Oh, they planned to teach me, of course. We were rather... closed off from others for quite so time, but they knew that had to change eventually.

... However, they died before they could begin helping me with all of the little details of interacting with other nobles and ambassadors.

Ah. Yes, I... suppose I expected something like that on some level. You wouldn't be Queen at your age otherwise after all.

Still, I did hope I was wrong...

[Elsa shakes her head.] Don't worry about it. It's.... I think that's one thing in my life I've actually been able to cope with.

And it was just an accident, not something... worse. [Like what almost happened with her and Anna.] A ship they were traveling on was lost at sea.

Accidental or more sinister, a loss is a loss. But if you say so. I don't think I'd cope quite as well.

[Then again, she'd have her friends, and Shining... Cadence, the Princesses, all in all maybe she'd be okay, even if it's not something she wants to think about.]

The ocean has always been treacherous. Equestria doesn't usually send oversea delegations unless we have a great deal of Pegasi to spare.

I see... and does that make traveling overseas easier or safer? I imagine so, unless the ambassadors encountered a storm.

Much safer. Pegasi can control the weather in groups, at least to an extent. Reversing air currents and changing the ambient temperature is a bit much, but they can at least keep the sky clear so long as there's enough of them to deal with any incoming clouds.

And of course, in sufficient numbers they can even go a step further, but typically speaking that would take all the pegasi in a town, or even a city.

So is that method of travel any faster than travel by sea? I've never left Arendelle, but I know it can take weeks to reach other kingdoms by sea, in some cases...

Oh yes. You know the saying that a shortest distance between two points is a straight line? Well that form of travel allows for the use of that shortest route without any trouble. Of course, it's not without its own difficulties. Pegasi don't have infinite stamina, for one thing.

Oh, of course. But that's a drawback that can easily be remedied with establishing rest stops along travel routes, yes? That might be a bit difficult with sea travel, though, unless there are suitable islands along your route...
