I looked at the date today, and I thought it would be fitting to bring up something I've been wondering for a while.

[It's been a while since Elsa got contemplative over the network. Thankfully, Elsa doesn't look all that upset or nervous, so it's nothing serious!]

Years pass here, and we all age. This is my second birthday in Johto; according to the calendar, I should be twenty-three today.

But that's only compared to how time passes here. What about back home? If we return home after spending years here, do we return as we were when we were first brought here? Or do we just... return to our land older, as we are now? I can't imagine how that might change things in our worlds, even if we have no memories of this place when we go home.

[... Okay yeah it did get kind of deep.]

It's curious, isn't it? Especially when one's taken from a date that doesn't match the date here when they first arrive.

Oh, I can already feel one coming on. This was a mistake, I think.

[Despite her words, she laughs. Of course, it doesn't last long, with his words sobering her up a bit.]

S'just things that happen sometimes ha ha! But it makes things simpler, don't it?

Don't worry about it! I mean, after all, it's yer birthday, ain't it? Got any sorta things planned?

[Right, she definitely understands the prompting for a conversation shift. No argument here!]

Nothing special, no. A friend of mine sent over a birthday cake, though, so I'll have that to enjoy.

Nothin' like cake ta make a day good~. S'homemade?

It is, yes! Well... sort of. My friend owns a bakery, so technically it's not homemade... but she made it, so. I think it counts.

Ha ha, when ya know a baker, everythin' they sell is homemade, innit? But that's good! Now ya know it'll be great, since it came from the heart.

Oh, there was never any doubt that it would be wonderful! Botan's sweets are some of the best I've ever had, both here and back in Arendelle.

It seems like a fun thing she's been able ta get started here! That's the nice thing about this place. When the world ain't threatenin' ta half end on itself, there's time ta learn or do all sortsa things ya wouldn't have had time for back home.

[Elsa laughs.]

You say that as if it happens all the time! There have only been... what. Two world-threatening events in the past year or so? That's not bad at all!

Only two! This place is gettin' rusty~. But we can't count our chickens yet. Might get surprised, get somethin' on Christmas day.

Now that would be a bit cruel, don't you think? True, the timing of the strange things that happen here isn't always good, but to disrupt the winter holidays like that...

That's a whole different level from what we've had to deal with so far.

[It sounds serious, but the light, joking tone in her voice is still there!]

You.... have a very fair point.

I suppose it's pointless to apply any sort of common sense to how the deities work here. I suppose all we can hope for is that the next time something odd happens here, it's at the whims of one of the less odd ones.

Wish we could take a poll. "Which nonsensical sorta animal do you want ta take over the weird events this year?"

Although I suppose I can't be too mean. That one from... last year, with the folks in pirate outfits and the other ones in red, that was their fault.
