Second Flake [video/Action for Violet City]

[The Elsa that appears on the video today is a much, much calmer Elsa then was last seen at the beginning of the month. In fact, she looks very relaxed, lounging by the shore of the lake just outside of Sprout Tower. By her side is a new addition to her team; a Lapras, very young if its smaller size is anything to go by. It seems to be dozing off, its head resting in Elsa's lap. She's gently stroking the creature's neck, a soft smile on her face.]

I have another question. This one, thankfully, is on a much less distressing note.

[SHE'S STILL SORRY SHE PUT THAT NEAR PANIC-ATTACK ON YOU ALL LIKE THAT....]

Does keeping Pokemon in those balls of theirs for long periods of time... hurt them or upset them in any way? None of the locals here seem too concerned about such a thing, but even so... I can't help but worry a bit. I try to keep mine out of their balls as much as possible, but I'm afraid that might not be very doable with this one, once Anna and I start traveling again...
foolishwren: is the phrase "going to chipotle with aristotle" funnier if you mispronounce 'chipotle', or 'aristotle'? (Hmmm...)

The balls?

Nah, they seem pretty okay. I dunno what it's like in there but it can't be too awful.

Still, I mean, I personally try to let them all out pretty frequently... they do get restless.

[Except for that Scolipede. That thing is never coming out of the ball. Ever.]

I don't keep mine in Pokeballs, but I've heard that they like them.

It doesn't hurt them, but I've seen some who dislike it. That seems to be a trait specific to individual pokemon, however, and doesn't apply to them as a whole.

Honestly, I think it's kind of weird. [Henry is wearing a smile, as usual, but it's pretty vague and muted. Elsa can probably see a baby Murkrow huddled up on his shoulder, beneath the cape.] They should be walking around like everyone else.

I don't think it does? Mine don't seem to mind going in the balls when it's necessary, but I try to keep them out as often as I can. From what I do know, the only real complaint they would have is the isolation from others in them--which is fairly obvious I suppose.

[Hopefully Elsa's ready for a hug from behind, because that's exactly what she's about to get as Anna sneaks up behind her as she sits by the lakefront!]

Already in love with the little guy, huh? I knew you'd love him.
friendyousohard: (That is NOT scientifically accurate.)

That's never been fully examined, actually. We know it doesn't hurt them, but beyond that it's confusing. As is what happens when you send them inside the computer, but you'll get to that later.

Starswirl, my Alakazam, has described it as "the most peaceful, tranquil, and mind-numbing experience you've ever had", as well as "like you're free from your body but confined by something else".

I always thought they were like little houses for them. They always seem fine with going in, after all.

[Hm...]

Either way, mine all hang out at our Training Center, so they get to stretch their legs all they want.

My guys never complain to me about being in their Pokeballs, and I can talk to most of 'em in some sort of compacity. So I think you're okay there.

[Awww yes Psychic types.

But more importantly... Hagakure leans in closer to his 'Gear's screen to get a better look at that Lapras. No way, it can't be...!]

Hey, uh...what Pokemon is that? It...it kinda looks like something from my world.

...Huh, y'know, I dunno. I've never really put Orin in his unless he gets stuck in the hallway. The only one I really try to keep in his ball is this Eelektrik I have and that's just cuz he tries to electrocute me all the time.

[...Darn it. No Pokémon should be that cute. It should be illegal. Now, Riku, being a guy with a very strong stubborn streak, tries his best to keep a cool front. Must not give into the adorableness.

Thankfully, her question serves as a welcome distraction.]

It's not harmful, but some Pokémon can't stand it. My Haunter's always trying to bust loose, and a handful of my other Pokémon would much rather be out there stretching their legs.

It doesn't hurt 'em, no. But some of them are more okay with it than others. I have one that actually likes sleeping in theirs but a few that never wanna go back in if they can avoid it.
