[So after 'discussing' things with Anna, and 'talking' to Serah, Lightning decides to take their pretty forced upon advice and contacts Elsa. She just needed and excuse. And she has one.
Elsa will see a Dratini on the screen that is looking at something behind the camera. He seems rather intent on whatever it is.]
... I know I said I wouldn't contact you, but I did promise to show you the Dratini when it hatched. His name is Cerys, and he is a rather serious boy. And also very loving. He'll be very strong one day.
[Cerys looks happy with the praise and moves off screen. There's a gasp and the device falls to the floor to show the ceiling.]
C-Cerys! You can hug me later!
[The sigh that follows sounds tired and worn, followed by a soft laugh.]
[Lightning may have to wait a while before getting a response. Elsa is... confused. Lightning told her she won't contact Elsa until Elsa was ready, but now she's just.... doing this? And acting like nothing happened?
Elsa's not angry, of course. She's just confused. And feeling really guilty, still. It's why she favors text over audio or video, so Lightning can't see or hear any hints of it on her face or in her voice. Elsa's not sure if she can cover that up right now.]
Thank you. I'm happy to hear that he takes after his mother in at least one way.
[Gee, she feels kind of bad now. It has been a while since they last talked... and isn't checking in like this things you're SUPPOSED to do as a friend? Elsa didn't even think to do that...]
Things have been well. [There's a pause as she looks around, making sure she's out of earshot of a certain someone.] I've been working on Anna's birthday present, so I've been a bit scarce on the network lately.
You're in Ecruteak, right? I'm just asking 'cause I'm here today, and I thought maybe we could hang out or something. Get lunch, check out whatever there is to check out here...
[It's weird, having so good a friend but never actually seeing her in real life. He doesn't want to pass up a chance to spend some in person time together.]
[ Asami has been following this mess ever since she learned about it, and she couldn't help but follow along with Elsa's conversation with the Lucario. Which means... she has a pretty good idea of how Elsa is doing before she even knocks on the door. ]
[ Asami isn't impressed with this situation at all. It always bubbles back up with the same outcome. Elsa gets upset. She doesn't know all the facts, so it isn't your place to say much, but she can't help but get frustrated. ]
[ Her face is leveled to concern, though, when she knocks on Elsa's hotel room door. Now isn't the time to get angry. ]
[Sometimes, Elsa thinks she's getting better at this whole coping with guilt thing. Before the conversation with Lightning's Lucario, she'd been able to talk to her once-friend with something resembling normalcy. But then this happened... and now? Now she can't help but keep kicking herself.
She's glad that Anna went out for a while, before the mood started heavily sinking in. Unfortunately for her, it looks like she won't be able to sulk in silence.]
Good afternoon, I have the script for the first half of your radio drama. We have so many people, I'm doing two separate stories. I've attached the first script as a text file, your casting is listed at the top.
[.... OF COURSE ELSA GETS STUCK PLAYING A WOMAN WITH GLOVE ISSUES AT THE MERCY OF A DECEPTIVE MAN WHO ONLY WANTS TO BE WITH HER FOR DARK ULTERIOR MOTIVES
Man this is giving her Hans flashbacks. But still, she smiles!!]
Hmm, I don't think it's too frightening... quite suspenseful, yes, but I don't think anything here will give children nightmares.
I read the conversation between you and my Lucario, and I'm here to apologize. For everything I did and everything I put you through since then. I never meant for any of this to happen, It's taken me a long while and for one of my friends to make me see the pain I put you through. The way I acted before and after was cruel to you, and to everyone else involved. I know saying sorry isn't going to make it go away, but it's the only thing I can think of doing that won't put you into an awkward position.
I'm not expecting anything from you, as a friend or otherwise. If you want to burn the bridge and be done with me, I understand. I won't interfere or stop my sister from talking to you and Anna. That's between you three. Don't feel you have to include me in anything you do with her. My sister and I do have separate lives from each other.
You don't have to worry about my feelings for you. I let those go when I realized I needed to make things right. It's all water under the bridge now.
I really am sorry.
[There's no need to reply to this, and if there is a response, it won't be answered.]
[To make things easy, Korra sends the same video message to Asami, Elsa, and Anna.]
I have really ugly scarves for everybody.
[She holds up a jumbled handful of fuzzy colors, blue, red, and green dominant among them.]
There was this Pokemon who knitted a ton of scarves and she was so proud of them that her trainer broadcast a message about it asking if anyone wanted any. There were so many scarves, it's like all she does. So I grabbed us some, because a scarf knitting Pokemon is pretty cool, and they showed up today.
I do not expect anyone to wear them, but I was hoping we could get a picture with them on to show Shiruku. That's the Pokemon that knits. I can't stress how into knitting scarves this Pokemon is.
Iqniq's already claimed mine, clearly they make great gifts for Pokemon.
[And hey, ugly scarves are worth a laugh, plus it's a cute story. Korra thinks they can all use a laugh and something cute.]
Come get your very own, one of a kind, ugly scarf!
[The message starts with a pause, that's never a good sign.]
I...I'm afraid I don't actually have any advice for you in coping with the loss of your friend. I'm sorry. One would think with loss being my line of work, I'd know all about it, but...even so, to me it's always an inevitable conclusion that I will experience loss.
[It isn't long at all until Elsa responds, looking quite a bit concerned.]
Botan, you don't have to apologize! You're doing a lot just by offering comfort to me. [And then her concern fades a bit into a smile.] Besides... you know my sister, don't you? You should know I'm used to rambling.
Here's the first bit of our new radio drama! Casting is listed at top, we'll record through the week. It's called The Black Cofagrigus of Death, and it's appropriately spooky.
[There's a bit of a delay in Elsa's response as she reads, but when she finally does speak up, it's clear even through her text that she's impressed.]
Spooky is right! This certainly seems much darker than it was last year... I almost hope we'll have a rainy night when this airs! It would be like the cherry on top of a sundae.
Uh...hey, Elsa? Sorry if I'm waking you up...if I'm waking you up, just go back to sleep and call me in the morning.
I just...need to talk, I guess.
[Because she'd woken up to take her late night/early morning watch shift and found...no Vaughn. His stuff and his Pokemon were still there, minus his starter, but the man...was gone. It's not like Korra doesn't know what happened, she's gotten unpleasantly used to this kind of thing. She knows she should make an announcement, like it's custom to, but...]
[She finds herself reaching out to the one person who hasn't vanished yet.]
[It's clear that Korra's message woke Elsa up - when the feed clicks on, the room around her is dim, and her hair is tousled from sleep as she squints against the light of her gear. But even so, she reaches over to the bedside table, flicking the light on, and pulls her hair back into a loose ponytail so she's at least somewhat presentable.]
No, no, it's quite all right, you don't have to apologize.
[There's a pause as Elsa focuses, and her brows furrow a little as she realizes that something must be wrong here.]
[Elsa has a couple of visitors today, first is a Honchkrow which drops off two packages addressed to her. Second is a Charizard that two packages as well, both addressed to Anna. The latter two are of course the sweet she ordered for Anna as well as a present to the girl from Botan.
However, the first two, addressed to her are what's important at the moment. Inside the first Elsa will find that it's from Anna--a snowflake patterned krumkake with chocolate filling. The second is actually from Botan--hand painted chocolates in the shape of snowflakes and Ice type Pokemon and...a smaller box?
Inside this smaller box is a charm bracelet. Charms attached include a snowflake (of course), a sunflower (clearly representing Anna), a blue hydrangea, and...a pink peony? Judging by the color, of course, one can guess the hydrangea is for Elsa, but the peony is curious. Maybe the note that comes with it will explain:
"I know I always end up giving you jewelry, you're probably well and truly sick of it by now. However, I remember there was a time when it was traditional for women to have charm bracelets in which they customize it as they wish--either to reflect things that happened in life or whatever else. I chose some charms that, admittedly, might be a bit silly. As you know, I love flowers! But what I haven't talked about is hanakotoba, or the language of flowers in Japan. It's a fading art, communicating with flowers in that way, but I still remember it for certain.
Sunflowers mean respect and radiance (of course) and hydrangeas mean pride and gratitude. I can't think of a better way to express how I feel for you and your sister, dear Elsa. Thank you for being my friend all this time, even after finding out that I haven't been honest about what I am.
[The sweets Elsa had been expecting. In the past Valentine's Days she had spent here, she and Anna had always exchanged sweets. She didn't expect a little amnesia to change that. And Botan had always sent her something, so that wasn't surprising. What was surprising was the bracelet, and the letter... a letter Elsa read at least three times.
It makes something in her chest clench... but not in an unpleasant way. She and Botan had always been so open with each other, and Botan had never been shy with compliments or sentimental things like this. But this was... different. Maybe it was the day, or just the combination of the gift and the letter, but everything just... touches her more than it usually does. It's not an alien feeling, but she can't quite put her finger on when she last felt this....
Ah, but she can't dwell on herself right now. It would be horrible to not reply in some way, but she doesn't want to just sent a letter in return. So after clasping the bracelet around her wrist, she grabs her gear and prepares a message to Botan.]
